Good afternoon
Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen
Class of 2007
Oliver Holmes one said "What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us".
As I stand here today, I realize that we did it, that we’re finally a few steps away from accomplishing our dreams! Many people helped me get here. Thank you mom and dad for providing with a proper education, thank you Dr. Moh’d Hussien for always being there for me; thank you to our professors for giving us the best of the best, Thank you to my friends who gave me all the strange nicknames that only we could understand. We all have our thank you's because none of us did it alone. Whether you know it or not, at least one person helped you get here. Take a minute right now to look around this room. Find the people who helped you get here and smile at them.
I look around me and see Abed Majali, a future foreign minister, Reem Al Musa, who will one day go from being a teacher, to a teacher who owns her own pre-school, Lana Mattar a rising politician, Rasha Amin who will one day be an international designer, the twins Amira & Samira Owaynat who will one day dominate the stock market, Zainab Hallum who believes that one day she would own her own Telecommunications company, Nasser Damis who fantasizes of dominating the market in Venezuela with his brother Nader, and Sabia Mellouh who has confidence that her PR Skills will get her some where in Event Management. Friends, the list goes on, forgive me for not mentioning all of your dreams, but those were just the tip of the iceberg.
As we start our careers, we should remember a few things. Remember your friends; remember the people who helped you get here and remember the people who will help you get where you are going. Remember everything you have done in university. Everything from taking the bus until you got your license to hanging out with your friends in the library when you were supposed to be doing research. Remember it was all worth it.
