The Big V

Valentine's Day or the Big V like everyone calls it; to me is over rated - and yes, if you're reading this you don't have to double check my profile to make sure that am a female, because I am, and again, I don't believe in Valentine's Day!

Some people say Valentine's day is the ultimate chic holiday!!! Others say it was created by greeting card companies to sell more greeting cards. The most outrageous excuse I've heard from men specifically that Valentine's is just another way for corporate America to take our money buying V-Day cards, flowers, chocolates, you name it. Hhhmmm... NOT!!

Initially Valentines is not about cards, chocolates, flowers, roses whatever it is, it's a gesture that's all, not that I'm defending Valentine's as an excuse. Valentine is NOT the universal day of love, do your reading people.

Saint Valentine (thus the name Valentine's day) whose feast is on February 14, nothing is known except his name and that he was buried at the Via Flaminia north of Rome on February 14. So how can you stick this love?!

For those of you who don't know about Saint Valentine, here is a brief summary of the story: He was arrested and imprisoned upon being caught marrying Christian couples and otherwise aiding Christians who were at the time being persecuted by Claudius in Rome. Helping Christians at this time was considered a crime. Claudius took a liking to this prisoner -- until Valentines tried to convert the Emperor -- whereupon this priest was condemned to death. He was beaten with clubs and stoned; when that didn't finish him, he was beheaded outside the Flaminian Gate.

How does that make Valentine's Day an official holiday to go crazy is beyond me, what Saint Valentine has done to all of those couples is overwhelming ... but does not necessarily makes Valentine's Day THE DAY to love someone.

I love my man every second, every minute and every hour of the day! I think about him all the time, first thing in the morning, last thing before I go to sleep and sometimes if I'm lucky enough I dream about him in my sleep... Valentine's is not going to add the extra spice cause I love him 365 days a year, and he's special to me all year long not just today!
